We were almost here. The switch to digital television was supposed to happen on February 17th but they decided to move it to June. Is there anybody who is not ready for this yet? I'm the only person I know that still has an antenna on his roof for a couple little used sets around the house. I have DirecTV for thmy main TV viewing so except for the TV in my camper, I'm really not even effected by the switch. I got my government coupons and bought my converter boxes for the old TV sets, what's so hard about that? I've been ready since they announced the switch and anybody who has bought a TV in the past two years should be ready. Since most of the population either has satellite or cable TV this should not be an issue anyway.
Every day I see a notice on the TV that the switch is coming with all of the information needed to make that switch yet they say we are not ready. If you get your coupon, the most you'll need to pay for a converter box is $10 so why aren't we ready.
Now the stores are going to have to print up new signs and we are going to keep hearing about this into the middle of summer. With the economy still struggling we need to get this over with. There will be additional costs to the television industry to send the analog signals for another six months. There are the printing costs for the new signs and all of the advertising. Why are we prolonging this?
With all of the warnings, anybody who doesn't have a TV in their house that is ready for the digital transition should not be allowed to watch TV anyway. The longer you give people to delay something the longer they will wait. Just flip the switch and I guarantee that anybody not ready on February 17th will be ready on the 18th.
