I’m not sure why the U.S. Government is giving $13 million to Iraq to help refurbish their National Museum. Has anybody noticed that we have no money left in the bank? Besides, aren’t we already spending enough money over there trying to keep that sand pit from erupting into trouble? The Iraqi people should be paying to rebuild the museum. In case you don’t remember, the video I saw showed Iraqis running out of buildings looting items from the museums and pushing computers down the street on office chairs, not U.S. Soldiers.
When my bank account is overdrawn I won’t be at your house offering to replace the TV you just threw a beer bottle at when your TiVo missed an episode of Survivor. Come to think of it, I wouldn’t do that if I had money. We should get out of there anyway instead of trying to spread democracy around the world, although it’s works so well for us.
Spreading democracy is like me coming in to your living room and moving your furniture because I think your couch would go better along the other wall. I’m sure the Iraqi people can’t wait to have an election that lasts over two years where they get to have the media cram it into our heads which of the lesser of two evils we should pick. It may not have been fun but at least with Saddam they knew the evil they were dealing with.
They should find a real Indiana Jones who can retrieve all of the missing artifacts and return them to the museum. Send a film crew along with him and turn it into a reality show. The commercials will cover the expenses and then we don’t have to spend $13 million on somebody else's museum. The least we should get out of this is a lifetime museum membership so when we do visit Iraq as our newest vacation destination we can get in for free.
