Democracy is such a joy.

The election is almost over and it's not right that in a country that was founded on democracy and the right to free election, I am really tired of hearing about it. It seems that this one has been going on for the last four years, and who has been doing the jobs of senators McCain and Obama while they are off campaigning.

Usually by this time I have a good idea of who I'm voting for. The last two elections were easy, anybody but Bush. But this time I'm not sure. Just looking at them from the outside, I feel more trust in McCain than I do Obama and I don't know why. In the past I've leaned more to the Democrat side than Republican but not because I consider myself a member of either party since I don't believe in the two party system. I'd more often choose the independant candidate but they are not allowed to win.

As for policies and promises, I don't think it's as important as everybody makes it out to be. For starters, most of those promises are ideas presented in a way to sway the most voters to your side. Once these people get into the White House the promises are forgotten and they do what they want anyway, maybe loosely based on their promises, without being called out onto the mat to explain themselves.

You can look at the negative ideas that the one side always reveals about their opponent but those are usually one line taken from a plan and distorted to make the other candidate look bad. You can do that to any speech when you don't care about the facts and nobody is going to question you.

I don't think either candidate is really that worthy of the being president. They're all driven by the money of their supporters and right now Obama has raised more than $100 million, more than enough to buy a 30 minute commercial on all of the major networks at the same time so he can hand us the glass of Kool-Aid and we can all drink together. To me this is just a big waste of money, if these people had a real message or a sure plan to make change, the media would be all over them without the need to spend money. It's just a big dog and pony show.

As you can see I have become truly disheartened with the election process and I put the blame not only on the candidates but on the Media as well. Everybody feels the need to report on the final outcome already, last night I saw the predictions of the number of electoral college votes that Obama will win by. If that's the case, then why should we bother to vote, the election has already been decided. The only places they are campaigning are the states where they need the most votes. These people don't care about America, they just care about being president.

Man this stuff makes me mad, I can't wait for it to be over. Democracy is such a joy.
